Denstone Hall Farm Shop & Café cooks up a storm at Taste of Staffordshire Awards 2014
The café and farm shop swept the board at the county’s annual food Oscars picking up a record five accolades for service and produce.
The farm shop and café, which recently moved into the impressive 600sqm barn conversion, proved it has all the ingredients for success at the Taste of Staffordshire Awards on Monday night. (24th March 2014)
Owners Emma and Rupert Evans picked up the prestigious awards for Best Farm Shop 2014 and Tea Room of the Year, a title they have held on three previous occasions.
The celebrated farm shop and cafè also won the NFU Local Food Champion Award and Local Food Grower of the Year, highlighting its strong belief in good quality local produce.
The fifth award was presented to Collette Malbon, a member of staff at Denstone Hall for Best Personal Service in the café, which has been a firm favourite with customers since the business opened in 2007.
The winners of the prestigious culinary competition were announced during a ceremony at Keele Hall and restaurants, pubs, tea rooms, visitor attractions and food producers travelled from across the county to find out who had been crowned the winners.
Rupert said: “Over the last 10 months everyone at Denstone Hall has worked tirelessly to get our new premises ready and winning these awards is the ultimate reward for the entire team.
“Although our new home is four times the size of the previous building, we have worked hard to ensure that our focus remains on food, family and farming and these awards prove this is still very much at the heart of everything we do.
“Naturally we are incredibly proud of all five awards, but we were particularly pleased to receive the Best Farm Shop accolade twinned with the Best Producer award because we believe our home made produce, local meats and own produced beef are about the very best you can get.
“Our butchery provides better meat, and prices, than anywhere else in Staffordshire and we pride ourselves on offering our customers cooking advice, expertise and serving suggestions.
“We set out to create a farm shop that serves both the community and local producers, and one that can rival big chains and supermarkets, and we couldn’t be prouder that our hard work has been recognised.”
Denstone Hall Farm Shop & Café are really pleased to announce that they were recently featured in the Independent Saturday supplement in the Top 50 Farm Shops listing. There are around 2000 farm shops in the country and the standards are getting higher and higher all the time. Here’s what they had to say about us:
